Horse Bedding
What kind of horse bedding do you have? Is your horse's bed hard and cold or warm and comfortable? Nowadays, there are so many different types of horse bedding on the market; but which type is best for your horse? Not only does horse bedding keep your horse warm and dry throughout the night, it encourages healthy hooves and the grip also stops your horse from slipping.
Traditional straw bedding is still around and thriving, and providing that it is dust free and clean, it can be perfect for your horse. However, there is a downfall to straw; the amount of waste straw can produce can be troublesome to the horse owner as waste in turn equals more work and effort in cleaning up. Sawdust could be considered better than the traditional straw as it reduces health concerns with dust and it also produces less waste, however, sawdust does not stop dust entirely. Wood shavings create even less dust, but with this benefit comes a drawback; the absorbency level is seriously reduced and wood shavings also take longer to decompose in your muck heap. Consider the above to help you make the right choice on horse bedding supplies for you and your horse.
