Horse Transport ServicesThere are a few things to think about when transporting a horse or pony, whether you are doing it yourself or using a horse transport service. Considerations when using your own horsebox or trailer: - Does your horse have a passport? When transporting a horse you must always have the horses’ passport. - All horse transporters need to have the relevant insurances in place - Travel kit: Does your horse need any of the following; travel boots, tail guards, rugs? - On longer journeys ensure that the horse has sufficient feed and water (You may need to stop to give the loaded horses water). - To ensure that the horse due to be transported is not put under any undue stress practice loading before the day if it is the first journey for that particular horse. Using a horse transporter: - Always provide your horse transporter a full address to reduce chances of delay and additional costs if they get lost. - Most services are charged by the mile; make sure you get a number of quotes. - Some horse transporters will charge extra for tack; be sure to ask. - Be accurate with the sizes and weights of your horses as there are guidelines set by the governing body as what weights certain vehicles can carry. - Ask about shared load options. Coming soon is a comprehensive list of horse transport services for you to ring around for quotes.
