When you think of mineralised salt licks, there are few people that don’t think of Rockies, the Cheshire company who make a range of high quality licks for horses and livestock.  Here are a few of Rockies’ equine products:


Health Licks

Available in five delicious flavours (carrot, apple, mint, garlic and cherry), Rockies’ Health Licks contain salt and a range of minerals including calcium, phosphorus, iron, cobalt, copper, iodine, manganese, selenium and zinc.  All ingredients are selected because of their specific properties when it comes to horses.


Health Licks fit in 2kg holders and are calorie free, as they are made in high pressure presses that remove the need for binders.


MagnaCalm

One of the latest additions to the Rockies range, MagnaCalm contains bioavailable magnesium, salt and cerelose dextrose, an ingredient designed to ensure palatability and consistent intakes.


Magnesium deficiency has been linked to hypertension, which can cause behavioural issues. 


MagnaCalm is perfect for horses that live out, or those who don’t require a bucket feed.  It can be offered in a free access manner and is also calorie free.


Bug:go! 

Ideal for the spring and summer months, Bug:go! contains 10% pure garlic, along with Cheshire salt.


Garlic has been used for centuries as a natural way to help repel flies, as the garlic aromas come through the skin when the horse sweats. 


Bug:go! is calorie free and can be offered in a free access manner.


LaminShield

LaminShield is available as a block, which is ideal for horses that don’t require a bucket feed, or as a sachet that can be added to the horse’s normal ration.


Both contain magnesium and Bioplex, and are calorie free.  They can be fed to horses and ponies who are at risk of or prone to laminitis.  


Field & Stable Block

For horses and ponies that live out, the Field & Stable Block is a cost effective way of providing minerals, vitamins and trace elements.


The Field & Stable Block helps to balance the deficiencies in hay, grass and chaff, and is suitable for feeding in a free access manner.  It has a light coating of molasses to ensure palatability, but is hard enough to prevent excessive intake. 


It’s ideal for multi horse owners, and costs from 3p per horse per day.
